Friday Family Farm

Where we live today is a Farm that was established by the Friday family.  The Friday family were the first pioneers from Württemberg Germany to arrive at Scott County Iowa. 

John M Friday lived in the farmhouse until his wife Elizabeth died in 1901, then he moved into town in the Rockingham area.  His son John M Friday Jr and his family moved in. Back then the address was RR 6 and Blue Grass Road.  We are on the remaining 30 acres of the farm, back then though I believe there was 160 acres for our farm.

 My very first post....

Today is my Handsome Hubby's 58th Birthday!  We really aren't doing a lot because Chimi the Cat got neutered yesterday so we have a conehead to babysit today.  We have decided to watch Billy Bob Thornton movies.  So far, we have watched Monster Ball, and now we are on to Jayne Mansfield's car then onto Pushing Tin.  

Things we have going on... Ciara is going to be headed home soon from West Virginia and then I believe she is done doing the traveling jobs and is going to find a job here.  

We have 15 baby chicks arriving the middle of April that Ciara and I are raising.  This is our first time for raising from babies, so I am doing all my research and getting my supplies together.  I hope all my babies survive.  We need to think of 15 new hen names and figure out a way to keep track of who is who.

We have started plantings for our vegetable garden.  This year I am going to plant wildflowers in more places too.  For the gardens though we are having beans, broccoli, lettuce, pumpkins, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, corn, strawberries, blackberries.  Our broccoli is already sprouting.

Projects in the works 

Dave expanded the chicken coup run.  I need to make some dust baths for the girls, and do some little things in the coop.  I want to frame some photos of them and put in their coop lol. 

We are going to revamp the library upstairs to make it Gothic for Ciara.

We have to work on the trees out by the woods on the outside path to Cabin area and on the inside Area there are a lot of trees that have fallen during the storms.  

Build Cabins on the North side of the woods.

Oh and we are thinking of a firepit too, but that might be down the road a bit, maybe when we build

the next section of the portion of the Patio on the north side of the house. 

That is the update here for now.
